When exploring what myth to write your paper about, think about what is seen as conventional wisdom in your environment, but, which you suspect, is actually a problematic belief based on “teachings” that are not always logical or even true. The following worksheet will help you explore how to define and support the myth you want to tackle in your paper. · Articulate the “conventional wisdom” the myth teaches: · Find evidence of myth in image: · Connect your myth to personal experience: · Find an outside source (Journal, magazine, or book) that helps illustrate, support, or define the myth you have chosen. · Given your research above, what time period will your paper focus on--is it sweeping: the last century? or is it relatively recent: last 20 years? Create a rough draft of your thesis by writing the Topic and Claim (exact articulation is not necessary).
