lty of a crime and is being incarcerated by the judiciary. The probation period gives a person the liberty to get into his community under the supervision of a probation officer. This concept of probation is beneficial as it is cost effective as compared to incarceration and also allows the person to rectify their behaviours and make them better citizens.
The failure rate of probationers is considerably higher which results in the increase in crime and hence spikes up the prisoners and the population under custody. More effective probation would directly benefit the law enforcement department and the judiciary to have lesser number of crimes and incarceration. If we talk about data than in 2020 31 percent of nearly two million probation exits were unsuccessful and close to 145 resulted in incarceration. His is quite high a number which results in increase in the crime rates.
