Introduction
Ethical practice is one of the most important part that every business organization must follow. These ethical practices are the moral responsibility of any company towards the society and towards the employees of the company itself. However, any kind of violation of ethical norms can bring serious consequences and in this article that will be discussed on the ED raid that was conducted on ex-Jet Airways chief Naresh Goyal who have done a fraud amounting to $7 million (Singh, 2020). In this article, the detailed discussion will be made regarding the case along with the ethical theories and norms, which must be considered, while any business operation. Further the recommendation regarding the case will be given.
Review of the Case
Jet airways is one of the most reputed airlines companies of India. It has operation well within the boundaries or India as well as outside India. In the following case the Enforcement Directorate (ED) have questioned the ex-chief Naresh Goyal and his wife for hours regarding a cheating case. The questioning occurred after a case was registered against them by a reputed travel agency regarding a fraud amounting to rupees 46 crore. In 2019, the ED was probing regarding the diversion of funds from loans borrowed by Jet Airways over a period of decade and based on that, the raids were being carried out at 12 different locations. This fraudulent have led to the laundering of money and that had not only cost the airlines business; however, it was a clear violation of ethical practices of a company. Ethical practices are the core of any business and they must be followed at any cost. Any action has a consequence and that need to be considered that the actions must be ethical in nature as that will ensure that the positive moral outcome must be received.
Analyzing the Cause of the Issue from the Perspectives of Business Ethics Principles
Any ethical issue that has been occurred is because of the result of the ethical violations from the company. These violations are mostly deliberated and that cause serious effect. In this case, the chief of Jet Airways have violated the ethical norms and that has led him to malpractice over the years. During the analysis of the entire case, it was found that Naresh Goyal along with some other senior members of the company had borrowed loans from various banks over the years on various occasions.
These loans were misused as alleged by FEMA, which looks after the foreign exchange manipulation and has found that these money were laundered and diverted to many foreign companies through ghost companies.
